One Guitar. 20 kids. Presence of God, YES PLEASE.

Music changes EVERYTHING.

It brightens up everyone’s day, changes people’s moods, and ALWAYS makes people smile.  At school my kids found out that I can play the drums. This one little boy asked me to Hit the table and I said huh? He said I heard you play the drums.. so GO.  So I just sat there for a second.. then I just began to play. His face lit up. He said Teach me. Teach me. So I began to teach this little boy all these beats. He is so intrigued with how fast my hands went and wanted to know how he could make his do it as well. This was a boy who would not do his work for nothing, but now he does it fast so that we can “hit” together and learn new rhythms.

The janitor of the school somehow found out that I played the guitar. So I told him to bring his and I would teach him. He did and I just sat in his office just teaching him how to play Brown Eyed Girl. Then he told the whole school and my teacher told me to bring my guitar and teach him.

So today I brought my guitar and I sat there all day playing. All the kids were stuck to me like glue. My kids in my class became so excited that when another kid would come in from another class to listen, they got jealous and kicked them out because I was “their teacher”. It was so funny and precious.

One kid walked up to me randomly and asked did I know this song..

“ We have come to give you the glory..?”

I said,
"WHAT, HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?"

We sang We Have Come by Will Regan together all the way through. After that, Jesus took over. He let the kids sing and learn all these worship songs as well as letting me sing in Kosa, their native language. Aroy, a 13 yr. old boy, sat with me the whole break time while all of the others were outside, singing all these worship songs with me with the biggest smile on his face. He wanted to know more. I would teach him one after another. I thought it ws to many for him to learn in one day but he WANTED to know more. It was so beautiful. I never wanted to put that guitar down, and I didn’t, i played till we left.

Mr. Baba was so excited that he assigned the second half of the days each day to me. I get to teach and play with them all these songs.
He said,

“When you pulled that out and started singing these songs, I have never seen these kids so interested and quiet over a simple instrument.”

What he didn’t know was that it wasn’t me at all.  God literally shushed them and let them hear his songs of praise to him. Once they heard them, they started singing them. He was so welcomed in that room, there was a change in the atmosphere. You could FEEL him just breathing beside me. It was so amazing. God can use his praises for anything and anyone.  Praise God that he is using music to open doors for his love to be displayed and that I get to be apart of such and awesome change and experience by something that he is doing through me.
