He said “Christian? I said What?

While prayer walking Bangla today, my Ipod was turned up so I can just worship while I walked as well. Out of nowhere I heard this voice that said “Christian?” I looked and it was this man sitting in this blue chair under an old telephone booth. I approached him and he began to ask me what I was doing. So I told him that I was here to love on the girls in the bars.

From that came a million questions in the next 30 minutes. He asked me all about God. I got to share the gospel with him and explain real love to him. He was so intrigued by what I was saying. He just wanted to know more and more. He then told me all about Buddhism and Hinduism and how they have to always be reborn again over and over and over. He said, “you always have to have a good soul, and you my friend have a good soul. “ I proceeded to thank him and tell him that in Christ, you only have to be reborn once because he washes you clean and he plants his spirit inside of you once and for all.

He looked confused and asked “How do you get Christ?” So I explained to him that you have to accept him as your Lord and savior, then he will forgive you of your sins and make you new in him. He then proceeded to ask where was Jesus at right now and I said He is right here because he is always with me and he lives inside of me. He looked around to see if he could see him and I guess he thought he could so he gave him a fist bump in mid air and said,

“Sup Jesus”.

After that, he looked at my cross on my necklace and asked if it was for good luck like Buddha. I said “No, it’s just as a reminder of what he did for me on the cross.” So I also got to explain that to him and that it wasn’t fingernails that went into Jesus hands, because that’s what he thought it was, it was real nails like the ones on my neck.  He then stood up and said,

“The more I look at your soul now, the more I love you.”

He didn’t say that TO me he said it to the Lord because as he was saying those words, he picked up my necklace and said it to the cross. He saw Jesus in me right then by just talking, sharing God’s story, and love with someone who was hungry for it.  He said

"if you really do love like Jesus, do you love me?”

I looked at him and said,

“ Yes, yes I do love you.”

He said,

“ If you love me like Jesus, then give me a hug.”

I totally gave him a bear hug and said not only do I love you man, but so does Jesus the one who sent me.  So we told him we had to go but we will defiantly be seeing him soon.
So we walk down to catch the bus and as we got there I saw my teammate Sami sweeping all this glass up from a broken bottle. I looked around and she said that the man who was walking around talking to himself was needing to see Jesus because he was possessed. He was talking to all the demons that he saw. He pointed to each one. They were all over the place, in the trees, in the grass, on the beach, right beside us, in him, EVERYWHERE. He told us that there were 10,000 male ones and 500 female ones. So all I did was say the name of Jesus and he turned his head so fast at me. I just looked at him and kept saying “Jesus, Jesus, JESUS.” As I said it, he began to shake with fear.

“ You say you have faith, for you believe there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this , THEY TREMBLE IN TERROR.” James 2:19

I saw that in real life and we just kept on saying his name and welcoming him there in that moment. Of course the bus pulled up so we had to go, but as we did we said

“ In Jesus name, YOU ARE FREE.”

He lifted his hands up and said

“FREEDOM”.

That is real love at its finest, reaching out to those who are looked upon as crazy, scary, slum, homeless. Both of these men saw Jesus today. Both of these men experienced and FELT real love, the love of God that flows from us and into them. They saw it and felt it no matter what the circumstance was. I am serving a God who is bigger than any idol, demon, doubt, fear, any other god. He is powerful and peaceful. He cares for the most broken ones. That’s what I saw today on the darkest street ever, I saw LIGHT and LIFE.

cherub. what an awesome story of how the lord showed up and how he used you. so proud of you for stepping out in faith and telling those stupid suckers what was up. freedom, indeed.

love you sweet girl. cannot wait to catch up soon!

  3. Cherub, Thank you for keeping your updates so real and giving us the stories of just how awesome the power of the Holy Spirit at work in and through a believer sold out to Jesus really is. The lesson I am taking from this is that even though conditions are “better” here where I live the spiritual darkness is just the same for a soul that does not know the Lord and demons are at work the world over seeking to kill and destroy God’s children. Your courage to step out in faith has encouraged me to be more of what I know Chirst really wants me to be. Thank you Cherub. I love you and you have angels in charge over you (Psalm 91) PawPaw and I send all our love.
